As we wave goodbye to January (where did that month go?!) and say, ‘HELLO FEBRUARY!’, it feels like I finally have the time to sit back, reflect and let you know what we’ve been up to since the start of 2022. There is always so much going on at Life’s Little Recipes, so let’s take a look…
Life’s Little Recipes on the radio!
In January, I made not one, but two appearances on BBC Radio Devon! This was so much fun although I was really nervous, but the BBC Radio team were so kind and supportive and guided me through the process! And I was lucky enough to chat with a couple of lovely guests, one who made electricity out of pig poo and the other, the fabulous Fitz Spence on David Fitzgerald’s morning show.
A couple of weeks later, I had a chat with the lovely Caroline Cook and this was also broadcasted on BBC Radio Cornwall, and Somerset. It was pretty nerve wracking, but Caro was so kind I could have chatted all evening to her – lucky for you and her that I didn’t! If you have any spare time and want to have a little listen to me chatting about pig poo and inviting myself to Fitz Spence’s wedding (!) then have a listen to Fitz here, or Caro here. In fact, listen to them both on BBC Sounds!
Planting trees and sustainability
You may have read my blog from the start of the year about how Life’s Little Recipes are taking steps to be more sustainable and conscious about our impact on the planet. It’s scary isn’t it how we could spoil it if we don’t act quickly?! If you missed this blog, you can find it here.
At the start of 2022, I also made the decision to sign up to a monthly scheme with Ecologi, where our emissions are offset – making Life’s Little Recipes and Unimole & Friends a carbon negative business by planting trees around the world. Since the start of this year, we’ve already been responsible for planting 65 trees and helping to produce 1.77 tonnes of Co2 emissions – which is the equivalent of 4,391 miles in a car. Take a look at how our forest is doing here. Selling on Amazon, I like to think that I’m now saving the Amazon too! It’s also really important to Unimole as she lives in a forest with her friends – don’t know if you knew this… have I given away a little spoiler?
The perfect gift idea
At the end of 2021 we reached a huge milestone! 30,000 of our little ‘Recipe’ bags were sold all in one year on Amazon – which was a new record for us. Life’s Little Recipes have sold our gift bags with Amazon since 2017 and we were even shortlisted for the Amazon Small Business award a couple of years later. We’ve also found that more people are finding us on Etsy and eBay – which is wonderful as we’re able to facilitate more people being able to recognise and connect with each other across the UK with Life’s Little Recipes’ thoughtful gifts.
In the last 3 months, we have had amazing success with our Get Well, Daughter, Apology and Friendship gifts.
I also hope to share another three new ‘recipes
’ with you very soon!
Have you met Unimole?
Unimole is the star of our magical E-cards and short stories and we’re working on lots of ways for you to learn about her and the important messages she carries. We are adding to our Unimole ‘Tails’ all of the time and we’re receiving great feedback from people as they learn more about Unimole’s heart-warming impact. If you want to read about Unimole, print off our colouring in sheets, read and share our Tails, go to www.unimole.co.uk.
