Unimole & Me

I’ve heard it said that nobody really ‘comes up’ with the best ideas, they’re stumbled upon like they’ve always been there – waiting to be discovered. I certainly feel that way about Unimole. She’s far too much of a fully formed individual for me to have simply created her. Unimole came into my life when the time was right. 

Yes, I’m fully aware that this might sound overly fanciful. If I’m honest, it sounds a bit far-fetched to me too. But, that said, Unimole’s role is a serious one. She acts as an ambassador for goodness. Her presence is a reminder that we’re all beautiful, unique and in need of comfort and reassurance. The problems that come from these needs being ignored are, sadly, all too visible across the globe. In this context, it seems to me that this moment, right now, is the perfect time to share Unimole with the world.

My company, Life’s Little Recipes, came into being as a response to a need. As a psychotherapy counsellor and ex-cancer nurse, I understood how someone’s day (even in the darkest of times) could be transformed by being reminded that they are precious, cared for and in their loved ones’ thoughts. Our recipe gift bags came about as a physical way to provide that reminder. They’re an opportunity for anyone, anywhere, to reach out and to pass on a message of love, recognition and hope to those they care about. 

Unimole had a similar genesis. I became very aware that our world is one in which far too many people go from day to day, week to week, year to year without being told how precious, special and unique they are. 

Isn’t that a tragedy?

What if there was a creature whose mission was simply to tell people how wonderful they are? 

What if there was someone who could see into every person on the planet and recognize all the special qualities that those people couldn’t see in themselves? 

This thought process led me to create Unimole. 

Like many of you, I suspect, I didn’t know much about moles when my journey began. Unimole simply popped into my head during a walk in the woods and has never left. A little bit of research means that I now understand more about moles than I did; they’re useful creatures, helpful in aerating soil quality and ridding land of parasites. But all of that is by-the-by. What you need to know is Unimole is a kind, selfless, bundle of joy, who simply wants to reassure people with the knowledge that they are loved. 

And the amazing thing is Unimole makes everyone feel better! People smile when they meet her – they can’t help it. You can actually see her making someone’s day brighter. She’s a very special mole. 

So where were we?

This blog is simply a note to let you know that Unimole will be popping up all over Life’s Little Recipes in the future. She’s on a mission to remind us we’re beautifully unique. It’s a quest to make the world a happier place.
